Much of the information about hair transplants online is incomplete or exaggerated. These are the most common misconceptions.
"A hair transplant suits everyone."
No. The adequacy of the donor area, the cause of hair loss and general health decide.
"Transplanted hair grows straight away."
Part of the transplanted hair falls out in the first weeks; new hair usually shows after the third or fourth month and the result settles in about a year.
"A newer method is always better."
The physician's experience, planning and aftercare matter as much as the name of the method.
"Once is enough."
Transplanted hair is generally permanent, but natural hair in untreated areas may keep thinning and further planning may be needed.
"The result is guaranteed."
No medical procedure can guarantee a definite result. For realistic expectations, ask clear questions at the first consultation.
